Accessibility

Public records should be readable by everyone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

What we do

  • Pages are built to work without JavaScript, and county maps come with a table of the same figures.
  • Pages can be navigated by keyboard, with a skip link and visible focus.
  • Colors are chosen for contrast in both Light and Dark modes, and map categories are named in legends and tables, not shown by color alone.
  • Many datasets behind our maps and tables can be downloaded as CSV.
  • Pages are checked at phone width without sideways scrolling.

Known limits

SignalData is in preview, and some maps and charts are still being improved for screen readers. Where a graphic is hard to use, the table or CSV beside it has the same information.

Report a problem

If something on the site is hard to use with your browser, device or assistive technology, write to info@signaldata.org with the page and what went wrong. We will fix it or get you the information another way.
