Terms of Use

Effective October 17, 2026. By using signaldata.org you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

signaldata.org (“SignalData,” “we,” “us”) is published by Signal Data. It is a public-interest, open-records project that compiles and reports on government records about public money, politics, candidates and public officials.

What the site is, and is not

  • Information, not advice. Nothing on the site is legal, financial, tax, investment or voting advice. Do your own checking before you rely on anything here for a decision.
  • Records as filed. Our figures come from public records and credited reporting. Government records can be late, incomplete or wrong, and we can make mistakes in compiling them. Every page names its sources and its limits so you can check them.
  • No inference of wrongdoing. Showing a contribution, contract, payment or relationship next to another record is not a claim that anyone acted improperly, and should not be read that way.
  • Preview. The site is in preview. Pages, figures and addresses may change as records are added or corrected.

Corrections

If you find an error, write to corrections@signaldata.org with the page, the figure and the record that shows the correct value. Corrections are dated and listed publicly; see our corrections log.

Using our work

You may read, share, quote, download and reuse our data and pages as described on Data use & licensing, with credit to SignalData. You may not:

  • present altered figures or pages as SignalData’s, or suggest that SignalData endorses you, a candidate, a party or a cause;
  • interfere with the site’s operation, test its security without permission, or try to reach parts of it that are not public;
  • access the site in a way that places an unreasonable load on it (automated collection is fine at a modest rate; the CSV downloads are there so you do not need to scrape);
  • use the site to break any law.

We link to government sources and other publishers so you can check our work. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

Names and marks

“SignalData,” the SignalData wordmark and the slogan “Accountability. For the People.” identify this publication. Reusing our data under our license does not give you the right to use our name or wordmark in a way that suggests we produced or approve your work.

No warranty

The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise the site will always be available or free of errors.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Signal Data and the people who work on SignalData are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you agree to their jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
