How to read this
Figures come from the Receipts and Expenditures Reports that Kansas statewide candidates file electronically (through the Secretary of State's campaign finance system) and that the Kansas Public Disclosure Commission posts as scanned PDFs. Each figure is read from the Summary page of the candidate's latest report, the one covering Jan. 1-July 23, 2026 (due July 27, 2026), using the latest amended version where one was filed. Kansas reports cover one period each, not a running total for the election, so every figure here is for Jan. 1-July 23, 2026 only; the committees' earlier reports (2023, 2024 and 2025) are listed with each account, each for its own period, and are never added in. Kansas's 'total contributions and other receipts' (line 2) includes loans received; we take those loans out of 'raised' and show them on their own under 'Loans' (loans received in this period only); the state's line 2 is kept in our data file. 'Spent' is total expenditures and other disbursements (line 4); 'cash on hand' is cash at the close of the period (line 5); loans still owed at July 23 (Schedule D) are given in the notes below the table, apart from the period's loans. In-kind contributions (Schedule B) are shown separately and are not in 'raised'. The next report, covering July 24-Oct. 22, 2026, is due Oct. 26, 2026, and will add money raised and spent after July 23. Kansas state candidates file in their own name through a treasurer or candidate committee; the reports give no separate committee name. Governor and lieutenant governor run as a ticket and report under the governor candidate's name.
Raised, spent and cash on hand are different measures from the same reports and are never added together. Loans are shown on their own and are not counted as money raised. Periods differ between accounts when committees file on different schedules.
What is not here yet
- Latest figures stop at July 23, 2026. The next Receipts and Expenditures report (July 24-Oct. 22, 2026) is due Oct. 26, 2026, so money raised and spent from July 24 on, including all of the general-election campaign so far, is not in these figures. Refresh after Oct. 26.
- Who is on the Nov. 3 ballot comes from Johnson County's Revised Notice of General Election (saved), which lists every statewide contest. The Secretary of State's own candidate list, saved for SignalData's list of state candidates, names the same 13 statewide candidates (11 accounts here plus the two Libertarians who file no reports; the running mates for lieutenant governor report under the governor candidate's name). Write-in candidates are on neither list. Whether any write-in candidate for a statewide office is certified, and whether one has filed campaign finance reports, is not yet checked.
- Ric Koehn (Libertarian, insurance commissioner) and Eric Lund (Libertarian, state treasurer) filed affidavits of exemption and have no money reports; they are not shown as accounts with zeros.
- The reports are scanned images. Figures were read from the Summary page image of each report and checked by arithmetic and against the page's OCR text; itemized schedules were not fully re-added because the OCR text is too noisy to recompute every report to the cent (where it parsed cleanly, Schedule A itemized rows added to the report's own itemized total: Cindy Holscher, Chris Mann, Steven Johnson, Juan Luengo).
- Loans received in the period were found by searching each report's Schedule A text for the payment type 'Loan' and checked against Schedule D (loans still owed). A loan received and repaid within the period whose 'Loan' label was garbled in the scan could be missed; for every account without a Schedule D balance, line 7 is $0.00.
- Candidates' own contributions other than loans were searched for by name in each Schedule A text layer; none were found, but the OCR may hide a match.
- Jennifer Day's report lists a $10,000.00 loan from the candidate on Feb. 18, 2026 in Schedule A, while its Schedule D shows only a $43,019.00 balance carried from 2025; shown as filed, not reconciled.
- Dan Hawkins's 2026 report opens with $10,000.00 more cash than his 2025 report closed with; Kris Kobach's amended 2024 report closes $489.32 above his 2025 report's opening balance. Shown as filed, not reconciled.
- Statewide ballot measure: no committee or person has reported money for or against the citizenship amendment in the Commission's index as of its Oct. 14, 2026 update; the reports due Oct. 19, 2026 were not yet posted. Not yet checked after that date.
- Legislative candidates: Kansas offers no bulk download; House candidates' reports are individual scanned PDFs on the Commission's site and the Secretary of State's viewer blocks the workspace. Not gathered. State senators are not on the 2026 ballot.
- Party and PAC committees, and independent expenditures in statewide races, were not checked.
- Losing primary candidates' accounts (e.g., other governor candidates) are not included.
