Michigan · state campaign recordsChecked Oct. 18, 2026

Who raised what, from the state’s own filings.

Figures come from each committee's latest campaign statement on file with the Michigan Bureau of Elections as of Oct. 18, 2026, read from the statement's summary page in MiTN. Periods differ by filer type: governor candidates in the Aug. 4 primary filed Post-Election statements closing Aug. 24, 2026; attorney general and secretary of state nominees, chosen at party conventions, filed Post-Election statements closing Sept. 11 (Republican, Aug. 22 convention date) or Sept. 18 (Democratic, Aug. 29 convention date); ballot question committees and the two minor-party governor candidates with reports last filed July statements closing July 20, 2026. 'Through' is July 20, 2026, the latest closing date shared by most accounts. The next statements (pre-general, closing Oct. 18, due Oct. 23, 2026) were not yet filed. All 'raised', 'spent' and 'cash on hand' figures are cumulative for each committee's current cycle as printed by the state, not single-period amounts, except where an account's note says otherwise (John James's 'spent' is cumulative for the primary election only). Loans are subtracted from the state's contribution subtotal and shown separately. Candidates whose committees hold a reporting waiver (they expect to raise and spend under $1,000) or have not filed are listed under no_reports.

How to read this

Raised, spent and cash on hand are different measures from the same reports and are never added together. Loans are shown on their own and are not counted as money raised. Periods differ between accounts when committees file on different schedules.

What is not here yet

  • The statewide nominees were first taken from the St. Clair County Clerk's unofficial list; the verifier checked them against the state's own Official Candidate Listing (as of Sept. 4, 2026; saved in data/mi/elections-2026/raw/): every governor ticket (Benson, James, Hudson, Brandenburg, Campbell), attorney general and secretary of state candidate on the state list is either in accounts or in no_reports, and no one in accounts is missing from it. Write-in candidates are not on that list and were not checked.
  • Lieutenant governor running mates are not covered; MiTN reports any lieutenant governor committee spending on the governor committee's statement.
  • Michigan's Green Party governor nominee (Douglas Campbell) and several attorney general and secretary of state nominees have reporting waivers or have not filed, so the state has no money figures for them; they are listed under no_reports.
  • Pre-general campaign statements (closing Oct. 18, 2026, due Oct. 23) were not yet filed on Oct. 18; all figures predate them.
  • Late contribution reports (48-hour reports) filed after each statement's closing date are not included.
  • Anthony Hudson's July CS and Pre-Election CS report different cash balances for the same weeks; the July CS figure is shown as filed and the difference is not resolved.
  • For Michiganders for Money Out of Politics, the closing balance in MiTN's filings list (-$217,264.31) and the summary page of the same amended statement ($82,735.69) differ; the summary-page figure is used.
  • Committees whose state record links them to a 2026 statewide proposal were found with MiTN's statewide ballot-question committee search and each committee's ballot-question section; committees that registered without linking a question, and independent expenditure committees or PACs spending on the proposals, were not yet checked.
  • Legislative candidates: the MiTN bulk export files are reachable and saved for 2025 and 2026, but amended statements appear in them as separate documents, so per-committee totals cannot be recomputed reliably without reviewing each committee's filings; legislative accounts were not yet done.
  • The old nictusa.com campaign finance site (cfrsearch.nictusa.com, miboecfr.nictusa.com bulk paths) returned 403 to this workspace; the state's current MiTN system was used instead.
  • Summary reports are served by MiTN base64-encoded inside the response; the saved PDFs are the decoded documents, with no other change.
  • Mike Duggan's independent governor committee (521868) is still listed as active in MiTN, but he is not on the state's Official Candidate Listing for Nov. 3, 2026 (as of Sept. 4, 2026; the only Duggan on it is a State House candidate), so his committee is not included. Why he is not on the list was not checked in a state record.
