- Aug. 27, 2026 An audit ordered by Chief Jerry Saulters flagged a civilian criminal intelligence analyst supervisor, who police said had searched his former wife's plate many times over several months in 2025. He was fired, and the GBI was asked to look into possible crimes. (Flagpole, Sept. 9, 2026; Atlanta News First, Oct. 7, 2026)
- Sept. 1, 2026 Manager Bob Cowell told the Mayor and Commission he had issued an executive order restricting Flock use: only sworn lieutenants, with a captain's permission, may search, and only for major felonies such as kidnapping or for missing-person cases. (Flagpole, Sept. 9, 2026)
- Oct. 7, 2026 Police said an officer was fired after allegedly searching a former partner's plate several times over a week in 2025; the GBI was asked to investigate. Only supervisors and above may now run Flock searches. (Atlanta News First, Oct. 7, 2026)
Conflicts and open questions
- Flagpole reported that Flock now keeps data seven days instead of 30, requires a case number and crime type, and suspends suspected misusers; reported as Flock changes, not an ACCPD policy.
- Executive order was issued by Sept. 1, 2026, when the manager described it to commissioners; exact signing date not stated.
