22 data center projects in Georgia.
This pass reviewed major and contested campuses in metro Atlanta, Coweta, Bartow, Monroe, Twiggs, Columbia and Troup, plus state tax law, PSC large-load actions and local moratoriums. Rate limits on page fetches left several projects only partly checked or missing: the OpenAI/Effingham campus, Microsoft Rome (Floyd), Hall County, Douglas County denials and South Fulton. Many moratorium entries rest on the SAVRN tracker alone.
Dot positions are approximate, from the reported address or area. “None found” means our statewide review of news, trackers and county records found nothing; it is not proof none exists.

State law and rates
- Georgia exempts qualifying high-technology data center hardware and equipment from state and local sales and use tax under O.C.G.A. § 48-8-3(68.1); the exemption runs through Dec. 31, 2031. (Alston & Bird, Feb. 19, 2026; Inside Climate News, April 9, 2026)
- Gov. Brian Kemp vetoed HB 1192 (2024), which would have suspended new data center exemption certificates. He cited the 2022 extension of the break through 2031. (Capitol Beat News Service, May 7, 2024)
- In the 2026 session, bills to end or suspend the exemption (SB 408, SB 410, SB 436, HB 559) and a construction pause (HB 1012) all failed; no data center bill passed. (Alston & Bird, Feb. 19, 2026; Inside Climate News, April 9, 2026)
- The PSC adopted a Georgia Power large-load rule on Jan. 23, 2025 (from Docket 55378). New customers over 100 MW face contracts of up to 15 years with minimum bills, pay for upstream generation and grid costs, and have their contracts reviewed by the PSC. (Georgia Public Service Commission, Jan. 23, 2025)
- On Dec. 19, 2025, the PSC voted 5-0 to certify 9,885 MW of new Georgia Power resources for expected data center load. Georgia Power backstops the costs for 2029-2031 so existing customers are shielded if the load does not appear. (Georgia Public Service Commission, Dec. 19, 2025)

How this page is built
Each project’s status is the latest public record found in a statewide review of local news, government records, utility filings and trackers; every update links to its source, and the reporting that found it is credited. The review covers campuses of 50 MW or more, or 100 acres or more when power is not reported, plus operating hyperscale campuses for context. Map positions are approximate. A county with no project listed was not found in this review; that is not proof none exists. Political money around these projects has not yet been traced in this state.
