Florida had 13,704,495 active registered voters for the Nov. 3 general election, according to the Florida Division of Elections’ book-closing report by party. The count reflects registrations as of book closing on Oct. 5, and the Division generated the statistics on Oct. 14.12
By party, the report lists 5,687,032 Republicans, 4,146,172 Democrats and 3,354,272 voters with no party affiliation. The remaining voters are spread across 15 minor parties; the largest, the Independent Party of Florida, has 331,548.1
The Division says its book-closing reports count active registered voters in the statewide voter registration system who are eligible to vote in that election as of book closing. It also notes that the state’s book-closing figures may differ from what a county reports or publishes online.3
Three reports, as printed
The Division posts book-closing reports for the 2026 primary and general elections and keeps an archive of reports from earlier regular elections.34 Statewide figures from the 2026 general and primary reports and the 2024 general report:156

How the numbers have moved, as reported
Writing for the News Service of Florida in a story published by WLRN on Oct. 19, Jim Turner reported that Republicans hold an edge of about 1.5 million registered voters over Democrats. He reported that between the July 20 primary deadline and the Oct. 5 general-election deadline, Republicans added 86,694 voters and Democrats added 85,134. He also reported that the state has added more than 225,000 voters since the August primary, and that the number of voters with no party affiliation rose by just over 32,000 between the primary and general-election book closings.7
Turner also reported that about 250,000 fewer voters are eligible for the November election than were in 2024, and he attributed part of that decline to the list maintenance county supervisors of elections are required to perform. The story quoted a Division statement that “voters are removed for death, legal ineligibility, or because they move out of the jurisdiction.”7

What the records do not show
- The reports count active registered voters only. They do not include voters the state has marked inactive.
- They do not show how many people registered, changed parties or were removed between reports; the changes cited above are the News Service of Florida’s figures.
- The 2026 general figures are fixed as of the Oct. 5 book closing and do not reflect later changes to the rolls.
- The reports do not show turnout or how anyone will vote.
