Lt. Kyle Gautsch told WHP in November 2025 that about 50 readers were in place at city intersections; police would not say where.
- Nov. 2025 Police said roughly 50 plate readers had been installed at city intersections and had been running for about one to two months, paid for with a PCCD grant. Lt. Kyle Gautsch said the readers capture plate, make and model for an online database, are used for investigations rather than traffic violations, and that Harrisburg and neighboring communities can access each other's readers. He said the department plans to buy more, possibly with local tax money if grants are not available. Mayor Wanda Williams had highlighted the readers in her State of the City address.
