Updates, newest first

  1. Oct. 6, 2026 GWIP Land Company and Windsor Renewal sued the county and Global AI in state court to vacate the permit, raising noise, water supply, power supply and project-segmentation claims. (Courthouse News Service, Oct. 7, 2026)
  2. Sept. 28, 2026 The clerk approved two petitions from the group POWER for circulation: a referendum on the approval and an initiative requiring voter approval before any data center gets an occupancy permit; each needs 9,103 signatures. (Colorado Newsline (via KUNC), Oct. 1, 2026)
  3. Sept. 9, 2026 Weld County commissioners approved permit USR26-0019 for a 41-acre data center use 5-0 after a daylong hearing with mostly opposing comment, conditioning it on closed-loop cooling, ambient noise limits and a decommissioning bond; the county said future phases need more review. (Colorado Newsline (via KUNC), Sept. 12, 2026; ConstructConnect, Sept. 16, 2026)
  4. Nov. 2025 Global AI completed its $15.6 million purchase of the 438-acre property. (DatacenterDynamics, Feb. 9, 2026)

Conflicts and open questions

  • Acres shown are the whole property; the approved use covers 41 acres.
  • Purchase timing differs: completed in late November 2025 (DCD) or December 2025 (Colorado Newsline).
  • Global AI presented a Poudre Valley REA will-serve letter for 35 MW; the lawsuit says the co-op committed power only through 2030 and would supply 23 MW in the final year against 27.5 MW needed.
