Updates, newest first
- Oct. 12, 2026 The Board of Supervisors' agenda listed discussion of MCNI's petition (describing the land as sections 16, 21 and 28) and of making data centers a conditional use while the county rewrites its zoning ordinance. (Hancock County Board of Supervisors, Oct. 12, 2026)
- Sept. 9, 2026 The Hancock County Planning and Zoning Commission set a public hearing and vote on MCNI's petition to rezone 724.26 acres from agricultural to industrial. (Hancock County Planning and Zoning Commission, Aug. 2026)
Conflicts and open questions
- The zoning commission's Sept. 9 recommendation was not found in county records or news reports. One online tracker lists the rezoning as denied; the petition was still on the supervisors' Oct. 12 agenda, so status stays 'proposed'.
- The September notice lists sections 16 and 21; the October agenda adds section 28.
