How it works

  • Pick what to follow. Every county, issue, official and company page has a Get alerts for this page button. Enter your email, click the link we send to confirm it is yours, and you are signed up. There is no password: whenever you want to sign in, we email you a new link.
  • Get the email. Once a week (or the same day, for members) you get what changed: meetings coming up, agenda items, new filings, votes and contracts, each linked to the record.
  • Show up, if you choose. Alerts include the meeting date and how to speak or send a public comment. We show both sides’ documents; we do not tell you what to think.

Invites and gifts

  • Invite friends. Every account has an invite link on your account page. When 10 people create a new SignalData account with your link and confirm their email address, you get 6 months of Supporter free. Only new accounts count, each person once; the reward is given once per member. We may withhold a reward earned with made-up or duplicate accounts.
  • Gift memberships. A paid Supporter membership comes with 3 gifts, an Activist membership with 5, and an Organization membership with 5. Each gives a friend or family member 3 months of Supporter free. They get one email with a link to claim it; no card is needed, and the gift simply ends after 3 months unless they choose to join. An unclaimed gift lapses after 30 days and you get it back.

Payment

Memberships renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Checkout is handled by Stripe. Pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, a credit or debit card, or Link. SignalData never sees or stores your card number. Change your plan, update your card, download receipts or cancel at any time from your account; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you paid for.

Independence

Members fund the work; they do not direct it. No member, donor or institutional customer gets a say in what we publish or how. Memberships are not tax-deductible.
