Updates, newest first

  1. Dec. 15, 2025 Southfield City Council voted 5-2 to approve the site plan after nearly six hours of comment. (Planet Detroit, Dec. 16, 2025)
  2. Dec. 2025 City issued a statement saying the use is permitted in the Regional Center district and did not need a formal public hearing. (City of Southfield, undated)

Conflicts and open questions

  • Below 100 acres but at the 50 MW threshold.
  • Building size differs: 109,683 sq ft in the plan reported by Planet Detroit vs. about 218,000 sq ft in the city statement (two stories); the city figure is used.
  • Report that financing is not fully secured comes from The 'Gander citing Mayor Ken Siver; not independently checked.
