Average monthly premiums for individual health plans sold in Florida under the federal Affordable Care Act are set to rise 10.4% in 2027, from $811 to $898 per person, according to rate tables the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation posted with an Oct. 16, 2026, date stamp. The averages cover 15 companies, are weighted by each company’s actual 2026 membership and do not include any premium subsidies. The office says the figures have not been reviewed or finalized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and may change.1

The office notes that its percentage changes are based on 2026 enrollment and do not represent the change any one policyholder will see.1 WLRN reported that open enrollment for marketplace coverage begins Sunday, Nov. 1, and runs through Jan. 15, and that people who want coverage in place at the start of 2027 must sign up by Dec. 15.2

Changes by company

UnitedHealthcare of Florida, Inc. has the largest approved average change, 25.0%, taking its average monthly premium from $825 to $1,031. AmeriHealth Caritas Florida, Inc. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc. each show 18.8%, from $647 to $768 and from $1,099 to $1,306. Health First Commercial Plans, Inc. shows 18.0% and Simply Healthcare Plans, Inc. 17.4%. The smallest changes are 3.7% for Oscar Insurance Company of Florida and 5.9% for Centene Venture Company Florida.1

Twelve of the companies sell plans both on and off the federal exchange; three sell off the exchange only. One of those, Preferred Care Partners, Inc., is new to the market and part of United, according to the table, which lists no premium figures for it.1 Across all 15 companies, the office counts 647 individual plans for 2027: five catastrophic, 174 bronze, 266 silver, 160 gold and 42 platinum.3

Where they sell

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc. offers plans on the exchange in all 67 counties, according to the office’s county table. The table’s county totals for on-exchange availability range from two companies in Hamilton and Monroe counties to nine in Broward, Orange and Seminole.4

Subsidy examples

The office also published illustrative county figures for an average silver plan, which it says makes up about 47% of the Florida exchange market. For a single 28-year-old earning $36,000 a year in Miami-Dade County, it lists an average total premium of $776 a month, a federal subsidy of $395 and a monthly cost to the individual of $381.5 For a family of four, two 40-year-old adults and two 10-year-olds, earning $87,000 in Miami-Dade, the figures are $2,917, $1,698 and $1,219.6 The office calls the examples illustrative.5

A year earlier

The office’s table for the 2026 plan year, dated Oct. 16, 2025, showed a weighted average change of 34.1% across 18 companies, from $648 to $867 a month per person, figures weighted by actual 2025 enrollment, with UnitedHealthcare of Florida, Inc. at 32.5%.7

What the records do not show

  • The 2027 figures are not final; the office says federal review could change them.
  • The averages are before subsidies and are not what any individual enrollee will pay; actual net premiums depend on income, age, county and plan choice.
  • The 2026 and 2027 tables are not directly comparable dollar for dollar: the 2027 table’s 2026 average ($811) is weighted by actual 2026 enrollment, while the 2026 table’s 2026 average ($867) was weighted by 2025 enrollment, and the list of companies changed.
  • The tables do not give how many Floridians are enrolled in each company’s plans or the reasons each company gave for its rate change.
