How to read this
Figures come from the Report of Expenditures and Contributions that each 2026 statewide candidate's committee files with the New Mexico Secretary of State through the Campaign Finance Information System (CFIS). Each figure is read from the committee's Second General Report, which covers Sept. 8-Oct. 5, 2026 and was due Oct. 13, 2026; all 14 qualified statewide candidates had filed it by Oct. 23 (two, David Gallegos and Joshua James Lawrence, filed amended versions on Oct. 16 and Oct. 20, and Laura Montoya filed Oct. 14). New Mexico reports cover one reporting period each and carry no running total, so every figure here is for Sept. 8-Oct. 5, 2026 only, never a total for the campaign. 'Raised' is monetary contributions received in the period (the report's Form B1 total); loans and in-kind contributions are not counted in it. The report's own 'Total Monetary Contributions' line adds loans to contributions, so it is not used as 'raised'. 'Spent' is expenditures in the period (Form C), not counting loan repayments; 'cash on hand' is the closing balance on Oct. 5, 2026. Loans received in the period are shown under 'Loans'; unpaid campaign debt, in-kind contributions and the opening balance are kept in our data file. The governor and lieutenant governor are elected together on one ticket in the general election (Deb Haaland with Stephanie Garcia Richard; Greggory Hull, as the state's records name him, with David Gallegos; SignalData's national race data lists the same Republican nominee as Gregg Hull), but each candidate has a separate committee and report. Candidate names are shown as printed on their reports, without courtesy titles such as 'Mr.'.
Raised, spent and cash on hand are different measures from the same reports and are never added together. Loans are shown on their own and are not counted as money raised. Periods differ between accounts when committees file on different schedules.

What is not here yet
- The Third General Report (Oct. 6-Oct. 27, 2026) is due Oct. 29, 2026, so money raised and spent after Oct. 5 is not here yet.
- Every figure covers one reporting period (Sept. 8-Oct. 5, 2026). New Mexico reports carry no running total, and campaign-to-date totals (which would mean adding up every report since each committee opened) have not been computed. CFIS's Explore pages show a 'total contributions' figure for each candidate; it is not used, because it mixes years and transaction types in a way the state does not define on the page.
- Expenditure totals from CFIS's bulk expenditure file differ from four committees' report totals (listed under cross_check); the report figures are used. Checked line by line: the Hull, Garcia Richard and Sanchez reports each list one negative expenditure entry ($1,589.00, $96.05 and $61.60) that the report total subtracts but the bulk file leaves out; the Haaland report lists two expenditures (Sept. 9, 2026, $471.39, travel; Sept. 18, 2026, $5,389.43, mailing) that are missing from the bulk file. Why the bulk file differs was not asked of the Secretary of State.
- Ballot measures: no committee registered for or against any of the seven 2026 statewide questions was found in CFIS, whose ballot-question list has no 2026 entries. Money spent on the questions by political action committees or others is not yet checked.
- Independent expenditures and spending by political action committees and parties in the statewide races are not yet checked.
- Legislative candidates are not included: all 70 State House seats and one State Senate seat (District 33) are on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot. CFIS's bulk Data Download lists transactions but not report summaries, so cash on hand and debts would need each candidate's report PDF; not yet done.
- Late-reporting filings (CFIS 'Report of Expenditures and Contributions' items filed between regular reports) were not used.
