Aligned Salt Lake City campus (SLC-01, SLC-02, SLC-03)
Aligned's three-building West Jordan campus began with a retrofit of a former Fairchild Semiconductor chip plant. The 2026 legislative data summary lists all three buildings as operating. Also known as: Aligned SLC-01, Aligned SLC-02, Aligned SLC-03, Aligned Energy West Jordan.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
A Gardner Policy Institute data summary, later heard by a legislative interim committee, listed SLC-01, SLC-02 and SLC-03 in West Jordan among operating Utah data centers at 34, 48 and 80 MW. (Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, University of Utah, April 2026)
Aligned's Salt Lake City page lists SLC-01, SLC-02 and SLC-03 at 3333 W 9000 S in West Jordan on a 55-acre campus, and SLC-04 at a separate West Valley City address. (Aligned Data Centers, Jan. 2026)
DCD reported that SLC-02 had opened in March 2021 and that SLC-01 was rated at 34 MW. (DatacenterDynamics, June 23, 2022)
Aligned announced SLC-03, a third building on the West Jordan campus that would add more than 100 MW and use waterless heat rejection. (GlobeNewswire (Aligned Data Centers release), June 22, 2022; DatacenterDynamics, June 23, 2022)
Aligned broke ground on SLC-02, a 240,000 sq ft, 48 MW building next to its existing 34 MW West Jordan facility, and said the full campus was planned for 130 MW. (Aligned Data Centers, Oct. 30, 2019)
Data Center Frontier reported Aligned's plan to retrofit a former Fairchild Semiconductor chip plant in West Jordan, a roughly 300,000 sq ft building on a 60-acre site with its own utility substation, into a data center of about 50 MW. (Data Center Frontier, March 23, 2018)
Conflicts and open questions
- Coordinates from the U.S. Census geocoder for 3333 W 9000 S, which places the address in West Jordan city, Salt Lake County.
- Acreage conflicts across sources: Aligned's location page says 55 acres, while the 2018 Data Center Frontier report said 60 acres.
- Lead listed SLC-05 to SLC-07. No opened source confirms them; a commercial tracker hints at an SLC-07 near 6800 W 9800 S, but it cannot be cited.
The full record
- Status note
- The Gardner Institute's April 2026 data summary lists all three buildings among operating data centers.
- Power note
- The Gardner Institute data summary (March 2026 table) lists 34 + 48 + 80 MW. Aligned itself stated 34 MW for SLC-01 and 48 MW for SLC-02 (2019) and said SLC-03 would add more than 100 MW (2022), which would put the campus above 180 MW. In 2019 Aligned said the master-planned campus would total 130 MW and 780,000 sq ft. A 2018 report described the first building at up to 50 MW. Range: about 162 to 180+ MW. The Gardner figure comes from a third-party compilation (the institute cites company websites, permits, news and commercial listings), not a filing, so mw_basis is 'estimate'.
