Who is behind it
The record, newest first
DataBank's SLC5 page lists 10 MW of critical IT load and 49,180 IT sq ft, and mentions the campus's 66 MW substation. (DataBank, Sept. 2026)
The Gardner Institute data summary listed SLC2 through SLC6 among operating data centers. (Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, University of Utah, April 2026)
DataBank posted a summary of a Yahoo News article on Utah data centers, saying Granite Point used 7.7 million gallons of water over 12 months. (DataBank (summary of a Yahoo News article), Feb. 24, 2026)
DCD reported that DataBank opened SLC6, a 171,000 sq ft building with 11 MW available and another 11 MW planned (the article's subhead said up to 21 MW). (DatacenterDynamics, Sept. 26, 2022)

DataBank said it had finished a privately owned 66 MW substation at Granite Point with direct feeds from Rocky Mountain Power; SLC2 and SLC3 were operating, SLC4 was due by year-end, and the 24-acre campus had room for four more buildings. (DataBank, Oct. 23, 2018)
Conflicts and open questions
- Coordinates from the U.S. Census geocoder for 14870 and 14944 Pony Express Rd, both in Bluffdale city, Salt Lake County. The Gardner summary lists these buildings under Utah County, which the geocoder does not support.
- Acreage conflicts: DataBank's 2018 release says 24 acres, while its 2021 blog and DCD say 23 acres.
- DataBank's SLC5 page gives the street number as both 14850 and 14870.
The full record
- Status note
- The 2026 legislative data summary lists SLC2 through SLC6 as operational.
- Power note
- The Gardner Institute summary lists 3 + 7 + 4 + 10 + 22 = 46 MW. DataBank's 2021 blog gave on-site power of 10, 10, 9 and 20 MW for SLC2-SLC5 and 67.5 MW across its six Salt Lake sites; DCD reported SLC6 opening with 11 MW and another 11 MW to come. DataBank's current SLC5 page lists 10 MW of critical IT load. The campus has a 66 MW private substation. The Gardner figure comes from a third-party compilation (the institute cites company websites, permits, news and commercial listings), not a filing, so mw_basis is 'estimate'.
