Eventual load Apricus would seek, according to county records as reported by The Spokesman-Review (the records were not opened). The same records show Avista's study found about 50 MW deliverable by 2030 and up to 650 MW by 2033, with full delivery needing more regional infrastructure, so stated figures range from 50 to 1,000 MW.

Updates, newest first

  1. Aug. 6, 2026 The Spokesman-Review reported strong opposition at a July 30 planning commission hearing and a county commission split on a moratorium. It also reported Avista's study of about $184 million in transmission and substation work. (The Spokesman-Review (republished by GovTech), Aug. 6, 2026)

Conflicts and open questions

  • No source ties this project to the 500 MW customer whose talks Avista paused in June 2026.
  • Range: 1,000 MW is the requested eventual load; 50 MW (by 2030) to 650 MW (by 2033) is what Avista's study found could be delivered.
