The record, newest first

  1. Bluebird's page describes the site as self-sufficient, with 6 MW of off-grid power, three diverse utility feeds and technicians available 24/7. (Bluebird Fiber, June 30, 2023; Bluebird Network, Feb. 2022)

  2. City Utilities of Springfield's SpringNet sold its 56,000 sq ft underground data center to Bluebird Network, which renamed it Bluebird Underground. (Bluebird Network, Dec. 5, 2014; REjournals, April 4, 2017)

Conflicts and open questions

  • Under 50 MW.
  • The 6 MW is off-grid on-site power, not stated IT load, so mw is left blank.
  • Size: Bluebird's 2014 release gives 56,000 sq ft for the whole facility; left blank because current size is not stated.
  • REjournals (2017) gives an $8.4 million price and Dec. 4 approval / Dec. 5 closing without a year; Bluebird's release is dated Dec. 5, 2014.
  • A DatacenterDynamics report on a later expansion (about 29,000 sq ft of white space) was opened but is undated, so it is not used.
  • No street address in opened sources; coordinates are a rough northwest Springfield point.
