Project Fighting Pike
A seven-building, 455 MW cloud and AI data center campus on 300 acres north of Williston whose master plan the city approved in March 2025, with a three-phase build over about 10 years. Also known as: Fighting Pike Data Center.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
Williston Economic Development called the campus the city's largest single investment, at a minimum of $10 billion, said the master plan was approved March 17, 2025, and put it at 455 MW on 300 acres. (Williston Economic Development (City of Williston), March 2026)
Williston city commissioners approved the plans with noise conditions: a third-party consultant, mitigation in place before operation and kept up for a year after; phase one was targeted for the end of 2026 and the full project for 2031. (KFYR-TV, March 26, 2025)
Data Center Dynamics, citing city documents, described seven 65 MW buildings of 275,000 to 500,000 sq ft each with closed-loop direct-to-chip cooling on land once planned for a housing development. (Data Center Dynamics, 2025)
Conflicts and open questions
- Coordinates approximate, placed at US 2 and 56th Street NW as given by Williston Economic Development; KFYR described the site as along Highways 2 and 85 southwest of Love's.
- Approval date differs: KFYR (March 26, 2025) says commissioners approved the plans 'Tuesday' (March 25); Williston Economic Development says the master plan was approved March 17, 2025.
- Construction start was not confirmed in a record opened; Williston Economic Development's 2026 wording ('is being built') is promotional and was not used for status. A Williston Herald progress update could not be opened (site blocks automated fetching).
- The 455 MW figure is the city economic development office's statement, not a permit record.
- DCD article date not shown on the page.
