Meta Middleton Township data center campus
Meta's roughly $800 million Wood County data center, announced in April 2025 after years under the code name 'Project Accordion,' is under construction north of Bowling Green, with a state-approved gas-fired power plant planned next to it. Also known as: Project Accordion.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first

The Wood County Planning Commission voted 6-2 to recommend rezoning 13 Meta-owned edge parcels (32 acres) to industrial use for construction logistics. (BG Independent News, June 2, 2026)
The Ohio Power Siting Board approved the power plant through its expedited letter-of-notification process, with 34 conditions; the Ohio EPA air permit was still pending. (BG Independent News, Feb. 3, 2026)
Will-Power OH LLC filed a 350 MW gas-fired plant with about 120 MW of battery storage at Ohio 582 and Mercer Road to serve the data center behind the meter. (BG Independent News, Feb. 3, 2026)
Meta and JobsOhio announced a 715,000-square-foot, $800 million-plus data center on a 280-acre Middleton Township site, with construction already under way. (JobsOhio, April 9, 2025; BG Independent News, April 9, 2025)
Wood County commissioners agreed to a Community Reinvestment Area deal giving the project a 75% tax abatement for 15 years (month reported as September 2023; day not given). (BG Independent News, Feb. 24, 2026; BG Independent News, April 9, 2025)
Conflicts and open questions
- Coordinates approximate: placed near Ohio 582 and Mercer Road, where the adjacent power plant is sited; not a parcel centroid.
- Acreage conflict: 280 acres at announcement (JobsOhio, April 2025); the applicant's engineer estimated about 550 acres at the June 2026 county planning meeting, and a resident at the July 2026 township meeting cited more than 900 acres. Using 280 from the primary announcement.
- The 32-acre edge-parcel rezoning was filed by Liames LLC; BG Independent reports Meta already owns that land.
- BG Independent (Feb. 2026) reports the site sits near an existing FirstEnergy substation on Mercer Road and that Meta is partnering with Williams on Meta-funded behind-the-meter gas generation; the OPSB applicant for the plant is Will-Power OH LLC. No source states which utility serves the data center, so utility is left blank.
- A second, separate rezoning of 39 acres (requested by A. Schaller Limited Partnership) was recommended 6-2 by county planners and is pending township action.
