Former Vermont Yankee site (Vernon) redevelopment
PowerTransitions, a Texas company backed by private equity, holds a 2024 lease from NorthStar on the 140-acre former Vermont Yankee nuclear plant site in Vernon. In spring 2026 it listed a data center among possible uses, alongside battery storage and a small reactor, and some residents raised concerns. The commissioner of the Department of Public Service said a data center there would need to generate its own power. In September 2026 the company said it does not plan a data center and is focused on battery storage. Also known as: Vermont Yankee site, PowerTransitions Vernon.

Conflicts and open questions
- Included because the site exceeds 100 acres, even though no MW figure was given for a data center.
- GMP named Vernon, next to the former VY site, as one of the places it studied for 50-200 MW of added load. That study is not a proposal.
