- March 2023 WLIP reported that a Flock Safety fixed-location plate-reader proposal could go to the Kenosha Common Council for approval the following week. (WLIP, March 17, 2023)
- Aug. 2026 Chief Patrick Patton told WLIP the department was swapping its Flock plate readers for an Axon system because of doubts about how openly Flock handles data. He said officers would still need a case-linked reason to run a search, only detectives and supervisors would have access, and the department was weighing cutting data retention from 30 days to 7. (WLIP, Aug. 21, 2026)
- Sept. 2026 Mayor David Bogdala confirmed the move from Flock to Axon. Per WLIP, the city started looking at its Flock use late in 2025 and settled on the switch early in 2026; most Flock cameras were already down, and outside agencies can see or receive Axon data only if Kenosha signs off. (WLIP, Sept. 4, 2026)
- Sept. 2026 The American Prospect reported Kenosha replaced its Flock cameras with Axon's plate readers in September 2026. (The American Prospect, Oct. 1, 2026)
Conflicts and open questions
- The Axon contract amount and the council action ending Flock are not yet confirmed from city records. Status 'active' reflects the Axon system replacing Flock.
