The record, newest first

  1. Cartersville City Council unanimously rezoned the site from heavy industrial to technology and cut required parking, on condition it be used only as a data center and get no occupancy permit until power is secured. (The Daily Tribune News (Cartersville), Sept. 7, 2026)

  2. A regional-impact review (DRI 4761, Project Indo) was filed; reporting said DataBank planned a 200 MW, roughly 1.1 million sq ft campus with a first phase around 2032. (Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Oct. 30, 2026; iRecruit, June 23, 2026)

Conflicts and open questions

  • Floor area: about 1.1 million sq ft in the DRI as reported; the council-approved site plan shows two 664,000 sq ft buildings plus a 25,000 sq ft building (about 1.35 million sq ft). The latter is shown.
  • A speaker at the hearing noted that a tributary of the Etowah River runs along the property.
  • Distinct from the Etowah River proposal (111 acres), tracked as etowah-river-cartersville.
