Northeast Lubbock hyperscale data center (Texas Solar Works)
A 936-acre data center campus planned with grid, solar and gas power in northeast Lubbock that met neighborhood opposition and was withdrawn before the council took it up.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
At a council meeting on a separate 50-acre north Lubbock rezoning, which drew a crowd amid data center rumors and a citizen moratorium petition, coverage recalled the withdrawn 936-acre proposal for the same part of town. (KTTZ, July 31, 2026)
With a Jan. 27 council hearing pending, the request was withdrawn for now; the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance said the developer would revise and resubmit it, shifting the energy component to about 500 adjacent acres it planned to buy in the county. (KCBD, Jan. 16, 2026)
Lubbock's Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-3 against rezoning the 936 acres from mostly single-family to general industrial with a power-generation specific use. (KCBD, Jan. 16, 2026; DatacenterDynamics, Jan. 15, 2026)
