NTT Gainesville campus
NTT plans four two-story data centers with a combined 336 MW and more than 2 million sq ft on about 104 acres along John Marshall Highway in Gainesville, which it calls its largest U.S. campus. Also known as: Grove at Gainesville, NTT VA10.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
NTT applied to the Army Corps of Engineers' Norfolk District for a permit covering about 2.2 acres of regulated waters on the site, under the name NTT VA10. (DatacenterDynamics, June 2023; Bisnow, June 26, 2023)
NTT said it had bought 103 acres from Lerner Enterprises for a 336 MW, four-building campus, with the first building targeted for the second quarter of 2024. (Data Center Frontier, June 14, 2022; DatacenterDynamics, June 2022)
The county approved a rezoning for the I-66 and US 29 Technology Park, filed by the earlier landowners in July 2021. (DatacenterDynamics, June 2023)
Conflicts and open questions
- Acreage is reported as 103 (purchase) and about 104 (permit filing).
- Bisnow, citing DCD, said Amazon Web Services was the likely tenant because the application referred to a nearby Amazon-owned property; this is not confirmed, so tenant is left blank.
- Utility not stated in sources opened.
- Operating status of the Gainesville buildings was not confirmed in any opened source; NTT had targeted the first building for 2024.
