Edwards Air Force Base data center land offering
The Air Force offered more than 2,100 acres at Edwards for private AI data centers; no selected developer was found in the records opened.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
Air & Space Forces Magazine, covering a later Air Force offer of land at Alaska bases, mentioned the five-base round without naming any lessee at Edwards. (Air & Space Forces Magazine, April 11, 2026)
Defense News reported more than 2,100 of about 3,100 offered acres were at Edwards, with projects needing over 100 MW of new load and at least $500 million in value. (Defense News, Oct. 23, 2025; Tehachapi News, undated)
The Air Force released a solicitation offering parcels at five bases, Edwards among them, on leases of up to 50 years. Selections were expected in January. (Air & Space Forces Magazine, Oct. 15, 2025; Department of the Air Force, undated; Edwards Air Force Base (412th Test Wing), undated)
Conflicts and open questions
- Edwards's own page says four parcels are in Kern County (more than 1,100 acres) and three in Los Angeles County (1,000 acres). Its site list shows fewer parcels than that text.
- One record covers the whole offering; if leases are awarded, each campus may need its own record.
- Tehachapi News gives the posting date as Oct. 21; the Air Force and Air & Space Forces Magazine give Oct. 15.
- Edwards's page lists offers due Nov. 14 and source selection approval on Jan. 12, without a year and subject to change. No result of that selection was found, which does not show that none exists.
