The record, newest first

  1. Prime said it had broken ground on the 18 MW, 150,000-square-foot second building, with SMUD supplying power. (Prime Data Centers, May 7, 2026; Clune Construction, May 12, 2026; Prime Data Centers, undated; DatacenterDynamics, undated)

  2. DCD, crediting the Sacramento Business Journal, reported a pre-application to Sacramento County for a second building; Prime confirmed 18 MW to DCD. (DatacenterDynamics, Jan. 13, 2025)

  3. Prime said it had signed an 8 MW build-to-suit lease on the campus with an unnamed publicly traded tech company. (Prime Data Centers, April 20, 2021)

Conflicts and open questions

  • Abridged by PBS KVIE gives 44 MW for the two-building campus in two reports, and Prime did not respond to its requests in the July report. Prime's own page and DCD give 26 MW (8 plus 18), used here.
  • Addresses conflict. Prime's page puts the operating building at 2407 AK Street and the new one at 2408. DCD's 2026 report and Clune Construction associate 2408 with the existing building or its vicinity, and DCD's 2025 report put the filing at 2407. Coordinates are for the business park, not a matched address.
  • Prime's page gives 8.64 acres for the two buildings. Its 2020 release gave 38 acres for the campus and described several approved buildings; its 2021 release said six were planned and 50 MW was pre-positioned at the substation. No later record of those further buildings was opened.
  • The second building was first announced in November 2021 as 150,000 sq ft and 16 MW, per DCD; the description on Prime's page also still says 16 MW.
  • Prime gives the first building as about 70,000 sq ft in 2020 and 65,000 sq ft on its current page. DCD's 2025 report described the filed second building as about 110,000 sq ft on about 7.74 acres, smaller than the 150,000 sq ft Prime now gives.
