TierPoint Raleigh RTP data center
TierPoint's Research Triangle Park colocation site in Durham has more than 70,000 square feet in total, including over 34,000 of raised floor.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
TierPoint lists 99 TW Alexander Drive as a current site with more than 70,000 total square feet and over 34,000 of raised floor. (TierPoint, Nov. 2, 2026; TierPoint, undated; TierPoint, undated)
TierPoint agreed to buy 14 Windstream data centers for $575 million in cash, a deal that took it into Raleigh and Charlotte. (DatacenterDynamics, Oct. 20, 2015)
Compass said it had finished a 22,000-square-foot Tier III building in Research Triangle Park with 2,500 kVA of utility capacity, leased to Windstream Hosted Solutions. The release gives no street address, and no primary record opened ties that building to this site. (Compass Datacenters, May 1, 2013; Bisnow, May 6, 2013)
Conflicts and open questions
- TierPoint's own pages name it as the site's operator and do not mention Compass. Compass's releases place a Windstream-leased building on a Research Triangle Park campus and give no address, and TierPoint agreed to buy Windstream's data centers in 2015. Only commercial directories put Compass at 99 TW Alexander Drive, so Compass is not listed as developer and any tie between the two remains unconfirmed.
- TierPoint's 70,000 square feet is well above the 22,000 Compass reported in 2013; no source opened explains the difference or says whether the site grew.
- TierPoint's undated spec sheet carries a 2020 copyright notice.

- No load figure from TierPoint. Its four 2 MW generators are backup, and its two 2,500 kVA transformers are equipment ratings, not demand.
