The record, newest first
WSMV reported the city starting a research process with two town halls, and said the center has not been formally approved. (WSMV, June 15, 2026)
McMinnville officials adopted an 18-month moratorium that also calls for impact studies; no Hixson representative attended. (WSMV, June 3, 2026; Tennessee Lookout, June 15, 2026; WTVF NewsChannel 5, June 10, 2026)
WSMV reported the plan, a petition with more than 2,600 signatures, and a target completion in early 2028. (WSMV, June 1, 2026; Data Center Dynamics, undated)
Conflicts and open questions
- Status conflict: DCD's undated story says under construction while the developer sought financing and a tenant; WSMV says proposed and not formally approved. No construction record was found.
- Moratorium date conflict: WSMV reports June 3 and repeated that on June 15; Tennessee Lookout and WTVF place it on June 9. We could not resolve this.
- Power conflict: DCD and WSMV describe Bloom Energy fuel cells; Tennessee Lookout says natural gas and diesel generators.
- Square footage is 96,065 (DCD) or 96,064 (Tennessee Lookout). The rail spur and industrial zoning come from the developer's site as cited by DCD.
- Coordinates are approximate, from the city.
