Google Leesburg campus (Stonewall Business Park)
Google's data center on a 57-acre parcel in Stonewall Business Park south of Leesburg, bought in 2017 through Hayden Technologies LLC and permitted by Virginia DEQ for a large bank of backup generators. Also known as: Hayden Technologies LLC data center.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
DEQ approved a revised permit for the Goose Landing Lane data center covering 253 diesel generator sets (registration 74163). (Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, April 30, 2025)
Google said it operates two Loudoun County data centers that opened within the previous five years, after starting construction on its first Virginia data center in 2017. (Google, March 21, 2024)
Virginia DEQ issued an air permit for the site's generators (later superseded). (Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, April 30, 2025)
Hayden Technologies LLC paid $31 million for 57 acres in Stonewall Business Park, north of the Dulles Greenway and west of Goose Creek; Google announced the purchase in late November 2017. (Loudoun Now, Nov. 29, 2017; Data Center Frontier, Nov. 30, 2017)
Conflicts and open questions
- Google's 2024 post does not name its two Loudoun sites; matching them to the Leesburg and Arcola parcels bought in 2017 is an inference from timing and from the 2017 reporting.
- The 2017 Loudoun Now report says the park was approved in 2011 for 2.9 million sq ft of data centers, sits next to the Panda Stonewall power plant, and had another 50 approved acres.
- Previously covered only by the broad google-northern-virginia entry.
The full record
- Status note
- Google said in March 2024 that it runs two data centers in Loudoun County opened within the previous five years; DEQ reissued this site's generator permit in April 2025.
- Power note
- No power figure is published. The DEQ permit lists 253 diesel generator sets, but generator ratings are backup capacity, not the site's load, and are not used as an MW figure.
- Evidence
- Primary public records
- Size class
- Under 50 MW (outside main scope; kept for completeness)
