Project Tallmadge
Takanock's by-right data center campus in the Strasburg Industrial Park near I-81 Exit 296, with on-site gas turbines. A 2026 revision shrank it to two buildings with 120 MW of IT load. Also known as: Takanock Strasburg data center.
Who is behind it
The record, newest first
The project website, last updated in October 2026, puts investment at about $4 billion and construction at Q1 2027 through 2030. It says economic-impact and sound studies are planned for 2026. (Takanock (Project Tallmadge), Oct. 19, 2026)
Takanock's engineer filed a revised site plan. It shows two buildings of 60 MW-IT each and about 401,790 sq ft in total, plus 10 turbines, diesel generators and battery storage. (The Northern Virginia Daily, Aug. 6, 2026)
A packed public forum in Strasburg heard Takanock describe on-site natural-gas power and low water use. Residents raised concerns about water and electricity demand. (The Northern Virginia Daily, June 16, 2026; WHSV, June 16, 2026; WMRA, June 16, 2026)
The Town of Strasburg held an open house and Q&A on the project. (Town of Strasburg, June 2026)
