The record, newest first
The El Mirage P&Z Commission voted 4-0 to approve a site plan amendment for a data center at 12901 W. Olive Ave. The applicant said Microsoft was handling the site's service needs and EPCOR had been told of added water demand. (City of El Mirage Planning and Zoning Commission, Nov. 12, 2024)
Microsoft sought a site plan amendment to add PHX-83, a 245,500 sq ft building, on the original 150-acre parcel at 12901 W Olive Ave, with a council hearing set for Dec. 3. PHX-80 was operating and PHX-81/82 were under construction; power comes from an existing APS on-site substation. (DatacenterDynamics, undated)
Microsoft paid $258 million in cash for about 283 acres near Northern Pkwy and Dysart Rd, south of its existing 150-acre site. In May 2024 El Mirage had approved a development agreement with seller Dermody Properties for three data center buildings totaling 750,000 sq ft on that land. (ABC15 / Phoenix Business Journal, June 5, 2024; Arizona Technology Council (republished from Phoenix Business Journal), June 6, 2024)

Conflicts and open questions
- Acres = the original ~150 plus ~283 bought in 2024; our sum of the reported parcels.
- The DCD PHX-83 piece shows no date; its Dec. 3 council date follows the Nov. 12, 2024 P&Z vote, so we date it Nov. 2024.
- The draft P&Z minutes' motion wording refers to a 'retail commercial building' although the item was presented as a data center.
