Who is behind it
The record, newest first
KQED reported the proposal at 496 MW amid wider opposition to San José data centers. (KQED, Sept. 14, 2026)
Residents raised noise, air and burrowing owl concerns; the head of Alviso in Action said the city had not contacted residents. (San José Spotlight, April 23, 2026)
Prologis was the favored bidder, with about 1.7 million square feet of data center space in four buildings and 785,000 square feet of manufacturing, ahead of a Nov. 18 council hearing. (The Real Deal, Nov. 10, 2025; San Jose Inside, Nov. 10, 2025)
The council approved an exclusive negotiating agreement with Prologis. (San José Spotlight, April 23, 2026)
Conflicts and open questions
- Square footage is data center space only and differs: about 1.7 million (The Real Deal) and more than 1 million (San José Spotlight). The city's council memo was not opened, and the plan is not on the city's data center list as opened Nov. 2, 2026. Separate from Prologis's Silver Creek Valley Road project.
